Define sea-poose
The word "sea-poose" is a noun, defined as "the seaward undercurrent created after waves have broken on the shore". It can also be called "sea purse", "sea puss", "sea-purse", "sea-puss", or more commonly "undertow". Very similar words are "undercurrent" and "undertide". It can also be spelled "seapoose". Another definition is "a shallow inlet or tidal stream along the Long Island shore". The word comes from the Algonquian word for "little river".
