Paul Scholes has never scored more than 20 goals in a season, but did have exactly 20 in all competitions in 2002-03. That season, he scored 14 times in the English Premier League, four times in domestic cup competitions and twice in the Champions League. His next best goal haul came in the 1995-96 and the 2003-04 seasons. Scholes had retired last May, but surprised the footballing world by coming out of retirement on 8 January 2012 after a series of injuries in the Manchester United midfield.
