In which year was jack the rippers year of terror

While police have investigated 11 murders in the notorious "Whitechapel murders" file, dating from 3 April 1888 up to February 1891, only five of the 1888 murders are now believed to have most likely been the work of the serial killer known as "Jack the Ripper". The first two 1888 murders are now believed by experts to have been attributed to gang violence in one case, and another killer in the other.

The five murders that occurred between August and November 1888 had many similarities which led authorities to believe the murders were the work of the same person. All of the victims' throats were severed and - with the exception of one - all either had abdominal organs removed and/or gross mutilation of the abdominal area, thus leading to the belief that the killer had anatomical and possibly even surgical knowledge.

It is generally believed that the killer was interrupted while attacking the victim who was the exception in having no organs removed.

Also seeming to connect the five fall and winter 1888 murders was the fact that all five occurred at night, on or close to the weekend, and at the end of the month or shortly thereafter.

Mary Kelly, whose body was discovered on 9 November 1888 and who is believed by experts to have probably been the Ripper's fifth and final victim, also had her face mutilated and her heart removed.
