Ice skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have never been married to each other, and only this week (after some prodding by Piers Morgan in a TV interview) admitted publicly that there had ever been any romance at all between them in their 38 years of skating together. Torvill once told the press it's been a constant source of frustration for her that the "whole world" has always thought Dean is her husband.
As it turns out, the Olympic champions never even really dated. While appearing together on Piers Morgan's Life Stories this week, Dean admitted to the two having smooched during one long-ago road trip, but the pair were emphatic that the one occasion of kissing (a "dabble", Dean called it) was as far as things went.
Dean also talked about his current relationship with Dancing on Ice judge Karen Barber on the show this week. Reportedly the two have been together for a few years now, but this was the first time Barber and Dean have spoken about it publicly, with Barber telling Morgan the two are "very much in love". Torvill and Dean have lent their coaching skills to Dancing on Ice since 2006.
Torvill has been happily married to her sound engineer husband, Phil Christensen, since 1990. The couple have two adopted children, Kieran and Jessica, and the family lives in East Sussex.
Dean was married to French-Canadian ice dancer Isabelle Duchesnay from 1991 to 1993, and then to American skater Jill Trenary from 1994 until they split in 2010. Dean and Trenary have two sons together, Jack and Sam. Dean currently lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the US.
