As the UK’s tax authority, HM Revenue & Customs is the department responsible for making sure that the money is available to fund the UK’s public services and for helping families and individuals with targeted financial support. They're a non-ministerial Department established in 2005, replacing the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise. They work with the Valuation Office Agency and Adjudicator’s Office.
According to FT Adviser, an MP has accused HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) of misleading parliament over proposed prosecutions for alleged tax evasion after 14 criminal cases fell through in the last year. Find out more here.
