As stated at Gov.uk, you can claim Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) online. You’ll get a text or phone call within 2 working days to arrange a JSA interview at your local Jobcentre Plus.
You can make a quicker claim for JSA claim online (sometimes called Rapid Reclaim) if you’ve had JSA in the last 26 weeks.
Note: Making a reclaim online should take about 20 minutes. You still have to attend an interview at a Jobcentre Plus to get JSA.
Contact Jobcentre Plus if you cannot apply online. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm.
You must go to an interview at your local Jobcentre Plus - if you don’t, you won’t get any JSA. Jobcentre Plus will contact you to arrange this after you’ve applied.
Things you need to bring to your interview:
Your P45 (if you have one)
1 ‘primary’ identity document
2 ‘secondary’ identity documents - one to prove your address and the other to prove your date of birth
If you’re between jobs and actively looking for work, you might be entitled to claim Jobseeker’s Allowance. But how do you know if you are eligible for it?
