Newtownabbey Borough Council has recently been considering permanently banning circuses that use animals from setting up production on land owned by the council. In a council meeting at the end of last month, a letter from the USPCA stating its opposition to circuses which exploit animals was read by one alderman. The USPCA also asked the council to review its policies regarding circuses using council land in the letter.
