The credits at the end of Nativity 2 say "In memory of the brightest star in the sky, Maude Watkins" Who is she?
Actor Jason Watkins confirmed in a tweet that the girl mentioned in the "In memory of the brightest star in the sky, Maude Watkins" dedication phrase at the end of Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! is his and Clara Francis' daughter.
@KirstieMAllsopp Delighted you loved Nativity 2. So proud of this funny and loving film. Even more so as it's dedicated to my late daughter— Jason Watkins (@Jason__Watkins) November 25, 2012
Maude was just 2-and-a-half years old when she was found dead in her cot on January 1, 2011. She was 1 of the 5 children in England to have died from the flu that year.
Watkins (Gordon Shakespeare) stars in Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! and is best known for his roles in the hit BBC series Being Human and the prime-time Sky One comedy Trollied. Francis is a jewellery designer.
Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger!, the sequel to Nativity (2009) raked in more than £1.6 million its opening weekend. Most film critics agree that while the film is silly and goofy, it is short on laughs and is not geared towards adult audiences. The film's scene-stealing and charming pint-sized actors have appealed mostly to the 10-and-under crowd.
In celebrity buzz, Georgina Campbell and Jason Watkins have taken home the big prizes at the recent Bafta TV Awards for Murdered By My Boyfriend and The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies respectively.
The actors beat stiff competition from the likes of Cilla's Sheridan Smith, Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch and The Missing's James Nesbitt, with all three hotly-tipped shows failing to pick up a gong all night. Catch more at The Independent.
