What happened to the Mike Flowers Pops?

The Mike Flowers Pops are still active up to these days, they have small but loyal fanbase, though they haven't performed for years.

MFP's first live show for 6 years came in December 2016 at the 100 Club in London.

The Mike Flowers Pops became famous in the UK in 1995 when they released a cover version of Oasis’ hit song” Wonderwall.”

Flowers had been recruited by BBC Radio 1 DJ Kevin Greening to cover the ‘Hits of 95’ for Greening’s Saturday show; “Wonderwall” was his first week’s project. Chris Evans heard the song and made it “single of the week” on his Radio 1 breakfast show, telling listeners that this was the original version of the song leading people to believe that Noel Gallagher had ripped the song off. - FeelNumb.com.

Riding this wave, the Mike Flowers Pops performed at several festivals as well as supporting Gary Glitter on tour, and released an album called A Groovy Place in 1996. This featured more lounge versions of popular songs, including Björk's "Venus as a Boy," the Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs," Prince's "1999," and the Doors' "Light My Fire," the last of which was released as their second single and made it into the top 40.
