Where does quiche lorraine get it's name from ?
Quiche was invented in Germany in the kingdom of Lothringen; this area became the Lorraine region of France. Quiche comes from the German word Kuchen, which means cake. The original Quiche Lorraine was a pie with a filling of eggs and cream with bacon. The bottom crust was made from bread dough, but is now made with shortening or puff pastry crusts. If you add onions to the recipe, it is called Quiche Alsacienne instead.
