Three members of the original Dad's Army cast are still alive. Clive Dunn (Lt.Cpl Jack Jones) has made the ripe old age of 92, Bill Pertwee (Chief Warden Hodges) is also doing well at 86, and Ian Lavender (Pte Pike) is 67. The writer Jimmy Perry is also still alive at the impressive age of 89.
Frank Williams, who played the Vicar, joined the series one year after it began, and he is still alive at the age of 81.
The rest of the cast died in the 70s or 80s. James Beck (Pte Walker) died tragically in 1973 at the young age of 44 from pancreatitis. Arthur Lowe ( Capt Mainwaring) died in 1982, aged 67, John Le Mesurier (Sgt Wilson) in 1983, aged 71, John Laurie (Pte Frazer) in 1980, aged 83, Arnold Ridley (Pte Godfrey) in 1988 aged 88, and Edward Sinclair (the verger) in 1977 aged 63.
